Witches abound in halloween spoofs, pop tv, and pulp fantasy. But I think these magic-wielding chicks are much more interesting. So let's dust off our brooms and check out some witchy media.
On this site, if the term "gypsy" is used without qualification, it is referring to the fictional character of the gypsy. For, while it is better to refer to the Roma as Roma, there are characters in literature and folklore that have more to do with the authors' ideas about how gypsies live than with the Roma (or any other so-called gypsy group) themselves. Since these characters have captured our imagination, it seems best to acknowledge them - without equating this gypsy character with any specific culture.
